Paperbark Swamp

The Paperbark Swamps are areas where there is water for long periods and the Melaleuca trees are one of the few species of trees that can survive in such conditions.  They are around the edges of the floodplains and are often called backwater swamps.  They form a habitat that is exploited by many species as a refuge site and food source.
